Merry Christmas!

Dear Parents and Students,

What a lovely week we had!  Preparations for our Chirstmas Evening, Christmas art, soccer matches, fun multiplication in Math, and laughter made up our week!  Of course the Christmas break that is coming closer adds to the excitement.

On Monday, December 17th, we will celebrate Christmas as a class.  We will have a Christmas party and exchange gifts.  Students, please remember to bring in a gift  and some snacks to share and munch on.  You may also bring a musical instrument or prepare a poem, song or story, and come entertain us if you wish.  We will also watch a Christmas movie together.

Tuesday, December 18th, will be our last day before the winter vacation.  School will finish at 1.00pm on Tuesday.  We will also fill the day with a birthday celebration, a movie and games.

It will be Wilson Tang’s birthday on December 25th.  We want to wish him a happy birthday and a great year, filled with happiness, good health and great scores.

Our Student of the Week is Richard Tsai.  Richard is a very helpful friend and has good sportsmanship.  He is also participating with greater enthusiasm during classes.  Congratulations, Richard!  You are a star!

Since this will be my last official blog letter before our winter vacation I would like to wish everyone a “MERRY CHRISTMAS” and “Best wishes for the New Year”!  Have a great time during the vacation.  Thank you very much for all you have done.  It is a great pleasure to work with a team like you!

Merry Christmas!

Kind Regards,
Ms. Crous

Great Memories

Dear Parents and Students,
What an exciting week!  Not only have we worked hard, written tests, and studied, we also went on our field trip!  And what a great day we had!  I am very grateful that the weather held well.  We had lovely weather and had a wonderful time!  Here are some of our memories captured:

If any of the moms who joined us on the field trip would like to share some of the pictures you took, please send them to me on a disc or flash drive.  Mr. Harris will put all the photos together and write us all a photo CD.   It would be lovely to have and to keep the captured moments.
Next week, December 3rd to 7th, is Literacy Week at HIS.  Many literacy-based activities are planned for us as a school, but also for us as Third Graders.  Although we are going to move away a little from the usual curriculum based classes, we are going to focus on literacy, literature, reading, writing, and spelling.   Students will have a lot of fun as well.  It is also enjoyable to do away with routine from time to time.
Dates to remember for Literacy Week:
Wednesday, December 5th:  HIS Book Sale (8.00am – 5.00pm)
Thursday, December 6th:  Caves Books Book Sale (8.00am – 5.00pm)
Friday, December 7th:  Spelling Bee (at 9.45am – 10.15am)

Curriculum Planning for Week 15:
Math:  We will continue with Chapter 8, Multiplication.  (Students, remember to make use of the links on our blogs to play online Math games.  This way you can have fun AND learn.  It is a good way to practice your multiplication skills!)
English:  We will focus on our Literacy Week activities.
Reading:  We will also use reading classes for Literacy Week activities.
Science:  On Monday, December 3rd, we will write Science Test (Chapters 8 & 9).
Social Studies:  We will focus on Literacy Week activities and also learn about a very famous, influential person, Helen Keller.

Our Word of the Month for December and January is appreciation.  There are a lot of people in my life who I appreciate!  And appreciation takes me to Christmas…
Our Christmas Evening is getting closer and I can promise you all it is going to be a very special event.  The Christmas evening is on December 14th, at HIS.  All the third graders know what costumes they need for their skit.  Most of the students already brought it to school.  Students, if you haven’t brought your costume, please make sure to bring it on Monday, December 3rd.  Ms. Faye would like us to have a dress rehearsal.  Also, all students need to bring white gloves for our song.  Third Graders, don’t give away all the surprises…J

Our Student of the Week is Tom Lu.  Tom is working very hard and he is participating very well in class.  Well done, Tom!  You are a star!
