What a Memorable Thanksgiving!

Dear Parents and Students,

Happy Thanksgiving!  And what a happy Thanksgiving Day we had at school on Thursday.  A huge thank you to all parents for contributing to the lunch.  It sure was a 7-star feast!  Thank you very much for joining us.  Your presence made it more festive.  Parents and Students, a team like you is surely something I am thankful for.

Here are some pictures taken at our lunch:

Next week Wednesday, November 28th, is our Field Trip Day to Taipei Zoo.  I am looking forward to it!   Students, please be at school on time.  The bus will leave at 8.30am promptly!  Parents who want to join can meet us at 10.00am at the entrance of Taipei Zoo.  Students, make sure to pack your water bottle, cap, disposable raincoat, and snack in a backpack.  The school will provide a lunch box for those students who eat the school lunch.    We will leave the zoo at 2.30pm and be back at school at 4.00pm

All students will get their field trip assignments on Tuesday, November 27th.   Students, you don’t need to take the assignments to the zoo.  You can complete them at home, after the trip, and return them on Friday, November 30th

Literacy Week is coming up and it promises to be a lot of fun.  It is scheduled for the week of December 3rd – 7th.  We will end that week with our annual Spelling Bee (December 7th).  Students will get their word lists next week.  All classes are allocated a time slot on that day.  Third graders will take part at 9.45 – 10.15am.  Parents, you are welcome to come and watch all the talented students.  Students, some of the words on the word list come from our weekly spelling words… hint hint … J  I will not schedule any spelling tests in the following two weeks, so students can put their time and energy into preparation for the Spelling Bee.

Curriculum Planning for Week 14:
Math:  We will write a test on Chapters 6 and 7 on Monday, November 26th.  Then we will move on to Unit 4, Multiplication and Division.  We will first look at multiplication concepts, which is Chapter 8.
English:  We will do some extra activities on adjectives and adverbs and write a test on these two parts of speech on Friday, November 30th
Science:  We will move on to Chapter 9, Our Solar System
Social Studies:  We will start with Unit 3, Communities Over Time.  Our first chapter in this unit is Chapter 5, Our History Through Time and Place
Reading:  We will complete activities based on Dancing Rainbows

Homework 11/23
Math:  TEST (Chapters 6 & 7)
Social Studies:  Parents, please sign the test?  Students, do your corrections.
English:  Worksheet on Adverbs
Writing:  Complete "I am a turkey" letter

The third graders are also practicing for their Christmas performance at our school’s Christmas Concert.  It is going to be a joyful event and from watching the third graders’ performance might even hit a nerve and bring a tear to the eye.  We are preparing a skit and a song for the concert.  Both of them have a strong, beautiful message.  The Christmas Concert is scheduled for December 14th

Our Student of the Week is Ayane Kono.  Ayane is a good friend to her classmates.  She is always friendly and polite.  She is also trying her best during class.  Congratulations, Ayane!  You are a star!

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone.  Stay safe and healthy.

Kind Regards,
Ms. Crous
