Literacy Week 2012

Dear Parents and Students,

What a busy but enjoyable Literacy Week we had.  We had so much fun with literature, oral presentations, readers’ theater activities, learning about Helen Keller and reading what Anne Sullivan wrote, Spelling Bee, book sales, Library Scavenger Hunt, designing Mr. Harris’s favorite book cover, and reading.  Have a look at what we did:

All the third graders did VERY well at Spelling Bee 2012!  Well done, everyone!
Congratulations to our stars of the day:
First place:  Ee Heng Kok

Second Place:  Ashley Breinholt

Third Place:  Ayane Kono

Next week Friday, December 14th, is the day of our Christmas Evening.  We will start at 6.30pm.  I want to ask that all students arrive at school at 6.00pm and report to the classroom, so that we can change into our costumes.  Students, remember that we will have a dress rehearsal on Wednesday, December 12th.  Please make sure you bring your white gloves before Wednesday.

Tuesday, December 18th, will be our last day before the Christmas Break.  School will end at 1.00pm on Tuesday, December 18th.

We will have a class party/gift exchange to celebrate Christmas on Monday, December 17th.  Students, please bring your favorite snack to school to share with your friends.  Parents, for the gift exchange, could you please send a nicely wrapped gift (valued around NT$250).  It might be best if your child doesn’t know what is in the box/bag, so there are no surprises given away.  Girls will exchange with girls and boys with boys.

Science:  We will start with Chapter 10.  Chapter 10 is about cycles and patterns in space.
